    Phonetic structure

    In the structure of Korean syllables, the initial sound is
    placed either to the left or above the medial sound.

    The sounds ㆆ and ㅇ are often interchangeable in native
    Korean words, allowing for variation in pronunciation.

    Among the 11 vowels that function as medial sounds, those
    that are round (ㆍ) or horizontal (ㅡ), heaven and earth
    vowel sounds, are written below the initial sound, while
    those that are vertical (ㅣ), human vowel sounds, are
    positioned to the right of the initial sound. The final sound
    is placed below both the initial and medial sounds,
    completing the syllable structure.
    When writing initial and final sounds together, they are
    arranged from top to bottom. When medial sounds are
    included in the syllable, the writing order follows a left-to-
    right sequence.
