Birth of Jeongeum: from darkness to light

    Our language
    was vastly different
    from that of China.

    While we had spoken words,
    there were no proper characters
    to write them down,
    making both recording
    and communication difficult.

    Then, King Sejong the Great,
    with divine wisdom,
    created Jeongeum for the people
    in a single moment of brilliance.

    At last,
    after a long history,
    our people emerged from darkness
    and stepped into the light.
