7. The order of Hangul consonants and vowels
Here are the orders of initial consonants and media vowels
in Jeongeum.
Jeongeum consonant order: ㄱㅋ ㄴㄷㅌㄹ ㅁㅂㅍ ㅅㅈ ㅇㅎ
Jeongeum vowel order: ㆍㅡ l ㅗㅏㅜㅓ ㅛㅑㅠㅕ
The origin of the order and naming of current Hangul
characters dates back to 1527 in Hunmongjahoe by Choi
Sejin. He introduced the consonants and vowels in the order
we use today. Here are the current orders of consonants and
vowels.
Current consonant order: ㄱㄴㄷㄹㅁㅂㅅㅇㅈㅊㅋㅌㅍㅎ
Current vowel order: ㅏㅑㅓㅕ ㅗㅛㅜㅠ ㅡㅣ
Reflecting the order in Jeongeum, we may change these
orders as below with minimal rearrangement.
Revised consonant order: ㄱㅋ ㄴㄷㅌㄹ ㅁㅂㅍ ㅅㅈ ㅇㅎ
