1. Principles of creation
The principles of Heaven and Earth are governed solely by
BalkIEo(밝이어: Balkeum Ieum Eodum 밝음 이음 어둠, Yin-
Yang)1 and Daum(다움: Daseot Umjikim, the Five
Movements, The Five Elements).
Between the darkness of night and the brightening dawn,
the OnKkeut(온끝 or 태극 Complete End, Supreme Ultimate)
is born, and from the alternation of motion and stillness,
BalkIEo emerges.
All living things in the world exist between Heaven and
Earth and cannot escape the influence of BalkIEo.
Human speech is no different, though people are often
unaware of this: The single truth of sounds.
When King Sejong the Great created Jeongeum, it was not
merely through wisdom and effort from the start.
He simply revealed the inherent principles of sound to their
fullest extent.
Since the fundamental truth is singular and undivided,
Heaven, Earth, and even the divine spirits act in harmony
according to this truth.
1. EoBalk(Yin-Yang) is terms used in the Hunminjeongeum Haerye. With the
context of whole description, BalkIEo is reasonable for better understanding the
priciple and philosophy of Hangul creation. So, EoBalk is replaced by BalkIEo.
