Note
The Hunminjeongeum Haeryebon 훈민정음 해례본 is the original
explanatory edition of Hunminjeongeum or Hangul, the Korean alphabet,
created by King Sejong the Great in 1443. This book is its English
translation with additional explanations and newly added illustrations by
Jo, Sanku. The original Hangul characters from the Haeryebon are
preserved as they are.
For explanations of new Hangul terms such as “Hasattang”(하사땅)“,
Balk-I-Eo” (밝이어), "Daum" (다움), and the newly introduced initial
sound names, please refer to the "Guide Notice" at the beginning of the
appendix.
