Clear to turbid sounds
When the very clear sounds ㄱ ㄷ ㅂ ㅈ ㅅ(G D B J S) are
written side by side, they become the very turbid sounds ㄲ
ㄸ ㅃ ㅉ ㅆ (KK TT PP JJ SS). This is because very clear
sounds become heavy and turbid when they slow down and
thicken.
However, for the throat sounds, instead of using a very clear
sound, the aspirated clear sound ㅎ(H) is used to create the
very turbid sound ㆅ(HH)[x]. This is because:
ㆆ ([ʔ]: Yeorin Heuih) is a deep sound that does not
thicken, so it cannot become turbid. ㅎ(H), on the other
hand, is shallower than ㆆ, so it thickens and becomes a
very turbid sound (tense sound).
Therefore, the very turbid sounds are ㄲ ㄸ ㅃ ㅉ ㅆ ㆅ(KK
TT PP JJ SS [x]), totaling six characters.
