These vowels go beyond the simple harmony expressed by
the basic vowels ㅗ ㅏ ㅜ ㅓ(o a u eo), which symbolize the
natural interaction of Heaven and Earth.
By adding ㅣ(i) Human, they represent the principle of
change and transformation brought about by Human
intervention.
Creation and recreation
In the vowels ㅗ ㅏㅜ ㅓ, a single round dot (ㆍ) symbolizes
Heaven. The presence of one dot signifies that these sounds
originated from the union of Heaven and Earth, marking the
first sounds ever created. This represents creation, as these
vowels embody the initial harmony between Heaven and
Earth.
In contrast, in the vowels ㅛ ㅑ ㅠ ㅕ(yo ya yu yeo), there
are two round dots (ㆍㆍ). This indicates that these sounds are
either secondarily formed or reborn, signifying re-creation.
These vowels emerge with the addition of the role of Human
ㅣ, reflecting an evolution from the original sounds through
human interaction.
