Divine creation

    In December 1443, during the winter, King Sejong the Great
    invented 28 letters and named them Hunminjeongeum (The
    Right Sounds for the People).
    To help people understand and use the new letters, he
    presented simple examples and explanations.

    Design principles: Balk-I-Eo, Hattangsa, Daum
    The shapes of the letters were inspired by ancient characters,
    but their sounds were harmoniously arranged according to
    the seven musical notes.
    They were designed to reflect the principle of
    Hattangsa(Heaven, Earth, and Human) as well as the
    harmony of Balk-I-Eo(Yin-Yang), making the system both
    mystical and perfect.

    28 letters, infinite sounds
    With just 28 basic letters, an infinite number of
    combinations can be created, enabling:
    Conciseness while clearly conveying the main point.
    Precision in meaning while allowing for widespread
    communication.
