A complete Jeongeum syllable is formed by combining an
    initial sound, a medial vowel, and a final sound. The total
    number of possible combinations is initial × medial × final,
    or 5,219 × 1,463 × 5,219, which equals 39,849,136,943.
    This means more than 39.8 billion possible syllables can be
    created, capable of containing every sound found in nature.


    1.6 Million Hangul syllables based on Unicode Hangul Jamo

    The global standard character set, Unicode, includes 11,172
    pre-composed Hangul syllables that are currently used in
    modern Hangul. In addition to these, there is a separate set
    of Hangul Jamo codes in Unicode specifically for combining
    Hangul syllables. This includes not only modern Hangul but
    also historical Hangul characters (Old Hangul Jamo).
    By combining these individual characters (Jamo), it is
    possible to create 1.6 million Hangul syllables (Ongulja) that
    can be displayed and used on computers.
    This means that even now, it is technically feasible to
    generate Jeongeum Hangul that fully embraces the creation
    principles of Hunminjeongeum. In fact, there are at least
    three fonts available today that allow all 1.6 million syllables
    to be displayed on a computer screen.
