Sound and direction

    The throat is located at the back, and the molar sounds are
    positioned just in front of it, corresponding to the North
    and East.
    The tongue and teeth are located further forward,
    corresponding to the South and West.
    The lips, which produce bilabial sounds, are at the very
    front. Earth, represented by the lips, has no fixed position
    but influences all four seasons from the center.

    In this way, the initial sounds of Hangul naturally
    incorporate the principles of BalkIEo(Yin-Yang), Daum(the
    Five Movements), and the directions.
