improves its readability.
This new approach is meaningful as it reinterprets the
principles and philosophy of Hunminjeongeum and attempts
to develop them in a way that fits the modern era.
6. Order of consonant root letters: ㅇ ㅅ ㅁ ㄴ ㄱ
The principle of translation is to adhere as closely as possible
to the original content of Jeongeum. However, for better
understanding, interpretative translation and additional
explanations have been included.
In Jeongeum, the order of initial sounds follows the principle
of Daum as ㄱ ㄴ ㅁ ㅅ ㅇ. King Sejong, with profound
understanding of East Asian phonology and traditional
philosophy, created the world's most advanced writing
system based on this deep knowledge.
For the explanation of initial sounds, an inverted order of
the traditional sequence reflecting ㅇ ㅅ ㅁ is suggested. This
order aligns with the Hatangsa principle for vowels and is
more intuitive for learning and self-discovery of Hangul.
Therefore, the proposed order based on Daum is ㅇ ㅅ ㅁ ㄴ
ㄱ, and this sequence is applied consistently throughout the
explanations.
