However, a more comprehensive effort to standardize
Jeongeum Hangul, 새한글, for all humanity, is necessary.
Historical background and the need for restoration
The current structure of Hangul was established during the
Japanese occupation, even before the discovery of the
Hunminjeongeum Haeryebon. Restoring Jeongeum is not
only important for modern technology and artificial
intelligence but also essential for establishing cultural identity
during a time of national division.
Jeongeum Hangul could also be used to preserve endangered
minority languages, extending the spirit of Hunminjeongeum
to support linguistic diversity globally. Considering the rapid
changes of the last century and preparing for the future, it is
time to reconstruct modern Hangul based on the strengths of
Jeongeum.
This initiative requires not only collaboration between North
and South Korea but also the involvement of global experts
to optimize Hunminjeongeum for modern times and
humanity at large.
